Whether you're an avid cyclist or just looking for a relaxing weekend ride, the Lakeview Tour, also known as the Orange Route, offers a memorable journey through the quiet countryside, with peaceful waterfront views, and vibrant small-town stops. This 70-kilometre loop weaves through Selkirk, Fisherville, Sweets Corners, and Cheapside, showcasing some of the county’s most picturesque landscapes and local gems.
Starting Strong in Selkirk
Begin in the welcoming community of Selkirk. Before hitting the road, you may want to grab a refreshing hot or cold drink at The Social Coffeehouse & Market, a cozy stop that doubles as an art hub featuring unique local creations. Just around the corner is the Sunflower Café home to delicious breakfasts and lunches - spot their featured mural along the outside wall for a photo op.
As you begin pedaling down Erie Street, you will head towards the Waterfront Way, a serene lookout onto Lake Erie. Pause to soak in the lake views and check out the educational signage that shares insights into the area’s rich history and natural features. Then, continue down Lakeshore Road, a scenic stretch that runs parallel to the lake and delivers postcard-worthy sights at every stop.
A Sweet Spot in Sweets Corners
After your lakeside cruise, your next highlight is Sweets Corners—and yes, it’s just as delightful as it sounds. This area is also where you’ll find the turnoff for Knight’s Beach Resort, a beautiful sandy retreat perfect for a refreshing swim or beach picnic, with on-site campsites if you’re looking to extend your stay and truly unwind.
Local Flavours in Fisherville
As you roll into Fisherville, the small-town charm continues. A must-stop is The Fisherville Tavern, affectionately known as “The Tav,” where you can enjoy a laid-back meal and connect with locals who are always happy to share their stories. A little further down, treat yourself to something sweet or savoury at Scattered Blessings Café & Coffeeshop, and if you’re in the mood to relax, you’ll also find Scattered Blessings Spa and Wellness nearby.

Cultural and Natural Gems Along the Way
As you make your way from Fisherville back toward Selkirk, keep an eye out for some of Haldimand’s hidden treasures. History lovers will enjoy a visit to the Cottonwood Mansion Museum, a Southwest Ontario Signature Experience where you can step back in time with an immersive Victorian house tour. The experience is held several times a month and must be booked in advance – or tour the museum during regular operating hours for a glimpse of life in the 1860s.
Nearby, the Wilson MacDonald Memorial School Museum offers a glimpse into rural education history with its restored one-room schoolhouse.
Back to Selkirk
As the loop brings you back to Selkirk, take in the natural beauty that makes Haldimand so special.
